Dr. James McDowell has spent decades caring for patients in high-stakes surgical and weight-loss settings, where he has seen a consistent pattern: many chronic health problems are better addressed earlier, more consistently, and more personally. Over time, that experience shaped a simple belief — good medicine should not begin only after a problem becomes severe.
That is one of the reasons he is now helping lead a new primary care model at N of 1 Wellness. The goal is to create a relationship-based approach that focuses on prevention, continuity, and whole-person care, while still giving patients access to the practical benefits of insurance-based medicine.
Dr. McDowell believes patients deserve more than rushed appointments and fragmented follow-up. This model is designed to give people a medical home where their concerns are heard, their care is coordinated, and their long-term health is managed with intention.
